Latest from the St Lucia Meteorological Services at 6 PM Sunday June 18, 2017.
“A tropical disturbance is located about 760 miles (1223 Km) southeast of the Lesser Antilles and is moving towards the WNW at 23 mph (37 kph) with maximum sustained winds at 35 mph 55 kph.
This system has become better organized since yesterday and is expected to move through the Windward Islands by Monday night.
It is expected to reach tropical storm intensity on Monday, June 19 2017 before reaching the Windward Islands. Although its center is expected to pass south of Saint Lucia, residents are advised to remain vigilant as moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds are still possible.
Further, two tropical waves located over the eastern and far-eastern Tropical Atlantic are moving to the west near 15 mph (24 kph).
The Met Office will continue to monitor the progress of these systems as they continue to move westward across the Tropical Atlantic.”
Meanwhile the Barbados Met Services has issued a severe weather alert for that island.
