CASTRIES, July 22, 2017 – Prime Minister Honourable Allen Chastanet welcomed His Excellency Mr. Didier Chassot, Ambassador-designate of Switzerland to Saint Lucia, at a meeting on Thursday June 22nd 2017. Following the introductions the Prime Minister and the Ambassador had a meeting where they expressed a commitment to strengthening relations between our two countries.
On February 2nd., 2017 Mr. Chassot became the first Ambassador from Switzerland accredited to CARICOM. His previous posting was as Head of Mission, Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela.
Ambassador Chassot has been a diplomat with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs since April, 1996.

2007 – 2011: Regional Coordinator for South Eastern Europe, Political Affairs Division 1 (Europe)

2000 – 2004: Desk Officer for the Western Balkans, Political Affairs Division 1 (Europe)
1998-2000: Deputy to the Permanent Representative, Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg
1996-1998: Desk Officer for Humanitarian Affairs, Political Affairs Division 4 (Human Rights, Humanitarian Affairs and Refugee Issues)
He hold a Master’s degree in International Relations and Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva.
