New Orleans Restaurant of the Year 2016 is Compère Lapin

Nina Compton - Island girl in NOLA

Following closely on the heels of her more than remarkable performance on Top Chef, Nina Compton moved to NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) and performed even more Saint Lucian magic which continues to stand up to the notorious voodoo of the South.

Transforming the space in an old warehouse at The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, 535 Tchoupitoulas Street was no small feat. It took guts and that indomitable Saint Lucian je n’est ce quoi to beat deadlines and hit the ground running on opening night to deliver on every expectation. In a town where restaurant competition is vicious, and takes no prisoners, Compere Lapin under the skillfully delicious cooking skills of Nina Compton has delivered to rave reviews.

To be written about by the most prestigious and acclaimed publications is no small feat. Rave reviews have poured from the Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, USA Today, The New York Times, Huffington Post, and many more…even Playboy which said, “Chef Nina Compton Wants You To Have More Fun When Cooking at Home.” Now what kind of fun would they be talking about Nina?

Since opening its doors on June 2, 2015 Compère Lapin has continued to carve a name for itself in the New Orleans restaurant landscape. This year’s award is simply another recognition of the stellar cooking skills of this Saint Lucian girl.

From French to Italian, a little of this and a little of that, and of course the infusion of Saint Lucian cooking magic, when’s your reservation for the whole family?

  1. Kudos to my Lucian sista! She had a definite purpose and made a definite decision to fulfill it. Gives us hope amidst all of the dull and dreary stuff going on. We ought to be proud of Nina!
