Canada Adds Barbados as Location for Visa Access

Canada announced on November 2nd that nationals of Saint Lucia can now submit biometric data for visas at the Canadian High Commission in Barbados. This in addition to Trinidad and Tobago which had been the sole location for Canadian visa services to St. Lucians since visa requirements in September 2012.
According to Ambassador Anton Edmunds at the Saint Lucia Embassy in Washington, DC and who also serves as Saint Lucia’s non-resident High Commissioner to Canada, “This is a welcome step, as it gives our nationals options, and indicates a responsiveness by Canada to the Governments of Saint Lucia’s stated concerns about the costs associated with travel to Trinidad & Tobago”.
Ambassador Edmunds added, “The Government of Saint Lucia will continue to advocate for a scenario where there is the deployment of mobile solutions to collect biometric data, and one
which includes Saint Lucia is a regular recipient of such a service”, noting that this would further reduce costs to individuals and families interested in travelling to Canada.
More information on the notice can be found on the Canada Immigration website.
