Reports from Saint Lucia are that a powerful earthquake has rattled the island. Residents in the north of the island report a small tremor followed by a much bigger tremor lasting from 10 – 20 seconds.
No reports of damage or injuries at this time although many reports are that buildings shook for extended periods of time, and items on tables and on shelves rattled so loud, scaring occupants of offices and homes.
The first reports were received about 3:55pm Saint Lucia time.
According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, the quake was located at Latitude: 15.04N Longitude: 60.59W at a depth: 21 km, 73 km NE of Fort-de-France, Martinique, 93 km ESE of Roseau, Dominica, 120 km NE of Castries, Saint Lucia.
