Jonathan ‘Ninja Dan’ St. Rose and co-defendants, Mervyn Nelson and Lynden Blasse, were all freed in the murder case of Dwayne ‘Chubby’ James. James was killed in an altercation at Maynard Hill on the night of February 14, 2009.
There has been a loud public outcry about the length of time that Ninja Dan et al had been on remand for this matter. The trio were eventually found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in prison for the offense on June 23, 2016 – more than 7 years after they were arrested.
According to sources Ninja Dan’s release was as a result of an appeal.
